SELECTED ARTISTIC PROJECTS
1) HOW DOES THE SCULPTURE SOUND? (2023)
Audio performance presented during Lviv Sculpture Week 2023, as part of the closing tour led by curator and festival founder Pavlo Gudimov.
The project is part of my ongoing series How Does It Sound?, which explores the sonic qualities of surrounding objects through active listening and direct physical interaction. In this performance, I investigated the acoustic properties of sculptures by interacting directly with their surfaces and materials, exploring their resonance and sonic responses. By approaching sculptures as sound-producing objects, the project sought to reveal aspects of their materiality that are not immediately accessible through visual perception.
2) HOW DO THE WALLS SOUND? (2024)
Audio performance developed as an outcome of sound research at RadioGarage and presented on 16 December 2024 during the opening of Dim Zvuku (House of Sound), Lviv.
The project began with an acoustic investigation of the space, during which I recorded sounds produced by its architectural elements and surroundings. These recordings subsequently became the source material for an electroacoustic composition presented as a live performance. By exploring the acoustic characteristics of the building through field recording and composition, I approached architecture as a sound-producing environment and a source of musical material.
3) HEAL (2024)
Audiovisual performance exploring the relationship between sound, silence and human experience in the context of the russia-Ukraine war. The project examines how war changes our perception of sound and the surrounding environment.
It is based on the story of Polina Raiko, a Ukrainian self-taught artist whose painted home, known as “Lost Paradise”, was destroyed by flooding caused by the destruction of the New Kakhovka Dam in 2023. The work reflects on loss, resilience and the human capacity to find meaning and connection despite the horrors of war.
4) RE:SYMPHONY (2024)
Electroacoustic composition and performance presented on 30 June 2024 at the VOX electronica Festival. The project was the final artistic component of my doctoral research in composition.
The work is based on the concept of recycling musical material: fragments of my earlier composition Nature Symphony were processed, reused and recontextualised to create a new electroacoustic composition. The project brings together ideas of musical ecology and environmental awareness, approaching reuse not simply as a technical method but as a way of generating new musical structures from existing material.
